THE WORLD IS UNDERGOING A TRANSFORMATION
The Desire to Avoid Becoming a Commodity
Are you irreplaceable?
Over the next decade, 62% of labor-intensive jobs, including those demanding high levels of expertise, will gradually phase out. This transformation is not a recent development; we are witnessing it unfold right before our eyes. All indications have been pointing towards individualized creative work for some time now.
“If the task doesn’t necessitate creativity, assign it, automate it, or abandon it.” — Naval
Before I continue with my dire predictions, let’s determine if you should proceed with this read. If none of the following points resonate with you, feel free to leave this page:
- You possess various interests but struggle to attract an audience to your work (for work to have value, it must be appreciated by people).
- You run a solo business but lack confidence in the quality of your social media posts, newsletters, or overall content.
- You engage in online writing but lack a systematic approach to crafting standout content (without relying on templates or copying others).
- You have yet to acquire a skill and wish to learn one that can be independently marketable or enhance the effectiveness of other sought-after skills.
- You earn income primarily through manual labor and aspire to establish a foundation to change that.
- You have followed the common advice of “learn a skill, monetize the skill” with limited success (due to the absence of attention, authority, or an audience).
- You are weary of acquiring skills that lead to dead ends and have no long-term appeal.
I could elaborate further, but by now, you should have a clear sense of whether improving your writing skills, becoming faster and more original, is a worthwhile pursuit.
THE MOST VALUABLE SKILL
All Other Skills Are Ineffective Without This One
And there are more opportunities than ever before.
Hello, I’m Dan.
I serve as a brand consultant for solo entrepreneurs. Creators, influencers, and consultants seek my guidance when they wish to focus more on their passions, automate the rest, and cultivate an audience they can leverage to maximize their leisure time.
My journey started like everyone else’s. I had no clue how to navigate the worlds of Facebook ads, email marketing, web design, digital art, dropshipping, eCommerce, SEO, or virtually any other skill you can imagine. However, from those setbacks, I gleaned three crucial lessons:
- Writing serves as the cornerstone of all meaningful communication.
When I say “meaningful” here, I mean communication that can be monetized. Once I mastered the art of writing, I propelled my freelance web design business (of all things) into a six-figure enterprise. The ability to convey your worth is paramount. Think about it—if you’re not inclined to learn coding, your only alternative should be writing. The internet’s forefront is founded on media. Writing underpins all forms of media, from tweets and threads to newsletters and blog posts. Even YouTube videos are most effective when accompanied by well-crafted scripts. Instagram reels and TikToks often derive their appeal from well-written text. Captions on any platform—well-crafted writing—is the key to attracting the most followers and conversions (the content itself doesn’t achieve this). Every other form of online marketing, advertising, or entertainment starts with writing. The list goes on. There’s a reason why myself, my clients, and my peers garner more engagement, followers, and sales than those who focus solely on flaunting their physical attributes: the power of impactful digital writing.
- Employers, prospects, and potential customers are present online.
By now, it should be abundantly clear that the world, especially the realms of commerce and employment, is swiftly transitioning to the digital sphere. Employers are growing weary of sifting through lackluster resumes; instead, they’re reaching out to individuals who demonstrate their value through their “Public Resume” (online writing). Here’s an example of one of my former students who landed a design job through his online writing: [Insert Example Here]. In essence, when you write about what you’re passionate about, opportunities naturally gravitate toward you. I’m simplifying, of course, but this is the reality for many individuals who are building their audience despite having limited experience in formal writing. The internet serves as an attraction mechanism (consider the people you follow—could you write what they do? Take a look; I’m certain you can).
- The future belongs to the creative.
By “creative,” I don’t mean a specialized skill like design; skills have their limitations. I’m referring to the opposite of manual labor, which can be taught to others. Creativity thrives at the intersection of your genuine interests and your personality. Your unique problem-solving approach, shaped by your distinct experiences, sets you apart from others. If you can nurture your creative problem-solving abilities, you’ll thrive in the evolving digital economy. If you’re new to writing, examine the next tweet you read. What is the writer accomplishing with their words? They’re resolving problems through education, actionable guidance, and original perspectives. How can you transition to pursuing your genuine interests full-time? By educating and inspiring others through online writing. How do you align with your authentic self? Through self-awareness and understanding, achieved through journaling—also known as writing—in a public journal (the internet). All roads lead to writing. If I could turn back time, the one thing I would change is to prioritize learning writing first.
