In this series of instructional videos, Grandmaster Taejoon Lee introduces Tae Soo Do® (Graduate Prerequisite Program) Hoshinsul (Self-Defense Joint Manipulation Techniques) at intermediate and advanced levels for the first time in history. These techniques serve as an introduction to the extensive manipulation techniques found in Hwa Rang Do®. Joint Manipulation, a component within its Four Divisions of study known as Wae Gong (External Force), involves utilizing the joints of the human anatomy. By applying proper angles and force, an opponent can be controlled through pain/pressure compliance.

While a person can easily strengthen their musculature, strengthening ligaments and tendons connecting bones and muscles is challenging. Consequently, correct application of joint manipulation can be highly effective with minimal force and effort. This method is also an excellent means of controlling and deterring an abuser without causing severe damage. Hwa Rang Do® offers comprehensive joint manipulation techniques for various types of attacks, including empty and weapon hand attacks, grabs, and holds. These techniques enable practitioners to control, subdue, take down, and incapacitate aggressors for self-defense, law enforcement, and military applications.

Volume 2 of the series covers takedowns, armbar techniques, and armbar variations. It also includes the shoulder block defense against five common attacks: punches, pushes, lapel grabs, wrist grabs, and back shoulder grabs. The video demonstrates shoulder blocks, takedowns, and follow-up techniques, lasting 41 minutes.
