Escrima, which translates to “fencing” in Spanish, refers to the armed and unarmed techniques of Filipino martial arts. When learning this battlefield art, which has recently transitioned into a sport, Escrima students start with single or dual weapons and gradually master the application of these techniques without any weapons.
Known for its deadly approach to combat, Escrima emphasizes quick self-defense, simultaneous counterattacks, and blocks. Each of these DVDs explores different aspects of the Latosa Escrima System as taught in their schools. While the videos complement one another, they can also serve as comprehensive training aids.
DVD 5 DOS MANOS Once you have mastered single stick practice, the next step involves using double sticks or “Dos Manos” (two hands). Mr. Latosa discusses the theory and coordination behind two-stick practice, including exercises, fighting techniques, and self-defense strategies.
