A synthesis of the best elements from diverse Filipino and Thai martial arts systems, the fighting style involving Dog Brothers sticks has been developed. This system incorporates techniques from Krabi krabong and is continuously tested in full-contact fights with minimal protective gear. Dog Brothers games allow attacks on any part of the body and the use of various stick techniques, along with strikes using free hands, elbows, feet, knees, spears, tents, locks, chokes, and more.

In my opinion, the instructional video series on real-contact stick fighting (FSCr) exemplifies one of the finest approaches to Philippine stick fighting.

FSCr Series – 1 Power Supply This series emphasizes hitting hard, fast, and frequently, serving as the foundational video for the entire series.

FSCr Series – 2 Footwork This installment covers displacement techniques based on Pekiti Tersia methods, teaching how to bypass enemy defenses and approach opponents effectively.

FSCr Series – 3 Siniwali Exploring the use of two sticks in a genuine fight, this section also delves into applying the video principles to unarmed combat with two sticks. Renowned Jeet Kune Do master Burton Richardson is featured in this part.

FSCr Series – 4 Blocks, Punyos, Pushes This segment focuses on melee damage techniques, including blocks, striking with both ends of the stick, and disarming techniques. The second part demonstrates the application of Pekiti Tersia concepts in real combat situations.

FSCr Series – 5 Fang Choke & Machado BJJ Addressing situations where fights escalate into mutual holds, this part introduces the Fang Choke strangulation method. Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Carlos Machado demonstrates techniques from his system applicable to fighters armed with sticks. Dr. Mark Lawson concludes the series by explaining optimal ways to target skull and nerve centers, elucidating the effects of these attacks.

FSCr Series – Rod 6 vs. Other Weapons This series includes a training section featuring mass battles with commentary. The highlight is battles where sticks are pitted against other weapons such as sticks, Tongfa, nunchaku, three-section staff, pole, etc. The series concludes by discussing the origins of Dog Brothers.
