Description
Dave Turton, a martial arts legend in the UK, boasts over 40 years of training. Inducted into the Combat Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003, he established the Self-Defense Federation, recognizing the need for an association focused solely on street-based self-defense. As the 10th Dan and leader of both associations, he initiated an organization open to all martial arts styles due to growing demand from clubs seeking realistic self-defense methods applicable in real-life situations. ASMAA takes pride in its status as a genuinely multi-style association, adopting a policy-free approach. The organization offers support and guidance to members, instructors, and clubs when needed, without dictating the content or methods of instruction.
“I embarked on my martial arts journey in 1961. After experimenting with traditional arts such as Judo, Karate, and Kempo for a few years, I founded Goshinkwai in 1970. I achieved my 1st Dan in 1975 and progressed through the ranks until I attained my 10th Dan in 2013. I’ve been honored with induction into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame three times.”
