Master Emil Farkas initiated his martial arts training during his youth, achieving a black belt in judo at 17 and in karate at 18. Following his family’s relocation to Los Angeles, he enrolled at California State University, Northridge. By the age of 22, he became Phil Spector’s bodyguard. In 1970, Farkas established the Beverly Hills Karate Academy, where he has taught for over 45 years. While he wrote the initial screenplay for a ninja film, it never reached production. Subsequently, he became a stunt and fight coordinator for martial arts movies. Farkas co-authored and published books on martial arts, one of which, an idea he submitted to Robert Kosberg, was featured in the book “How to Sell Your Idea to Hollywood,” illustrating how an outsider can enter the Hollywood industry through a simple idea and opportune circumstances.

Farkas graced the covers and pages of numerous martial arts publications and, in 1978, was featured on the cover of Inside Kung Fu in the story titled “Emil Farkas vs. the Amazing Spiderman.”

In addition to holding a seventh-degree black belt in karate and a fourth-degree black belt in judo and jiu-jitsu, Farkas earned the nickname “Sensei to the Stars” for his martial arts coaching of celebrities.

Emil Farkas, an American martial arts instructor, author, and fight coordinator, embarked on his martial arts journey in Hungary, his birthplace. He attained black belts in judo and karate before turning 20.

Today, Emil Farkas stands as one of America’s most esteemed senseis, enjoying international recognition as a leading martial arts authority. He possesses a 7th-degree black belt in karate, a 4th-degree black belt in judo, and a 4th-degree black belt in ju-jitsu. Farkas spent several years serving as a bodyguard for various celebrities and is renowned for his expertise in realistic street combat. Additionally, he is celebrated as a prominent martial arts historian in the United States.
